An open letter by Guyson Baker

My support for the Yes /Voice campaign is to ensure that Indigenous people have a voice to Parliament. This campaign is crucial to my Indigenous people because it would give us a platform to ensure that our rights, issues, and concerns are heard and considered when laws are created and decisions are made.

The history of Indigenous people in this country has been filled with injustice, oppression, and discrimination. We have been ignored, oppressed and abused for centuries and our rights and needs not taken into consideration. As a result, our communities continue to suffer from poverty, inequality, lack of access to education and services, and structural racism.

The Yes/Voice campaign is an important opportunity to create a more just society through giving Indigenous people a direct voice in our nation s governance. It will ensure that our voices are heard and our concerns taken into consideration when decisions are made, and it will provide us with greater access to resources, services and opportunities for self-determination.

The Yes/Voice campaign is about creating a more equal and just society in which Indigenous people and issues are given the importance and respect that they deserve. Having a voice to Parliament is an essential step towards that goal, and I urge you to support it.

In Unity,

Guyson Baker
