We're thrilled to announce a major victory for our members at Orica, who have just secured a 30% wage increase over three years!

After years of being behind on wages, our dedicated members knew it was time to take action. They united, voted up a Protected Action Ballot, and put in notice of work stoppages. This powerful show of solidarity demonstrated that they were ready to go toe-to-toe with management and demand fair compensation for their hard work.

A special shoutout to our incredible delegates, Ron Haworth and Dave Magri, who put in an immense effort to make this happen. Their dedication and determination were key in ensuring that the workers' voices were heard.

This victory reminds us all that when workers stand together, they can achieve remarkable results.

In a recent development, an AWU member secured their rightful accident pay back pay! Of over $40,000.

Our member was injured at work and filed an Injury Claim, which was accepted, securing them weekly payments based on their pre-injury earnings. Seeking fair compensation, they also pursued their Accident Pay Claim, asserting their right to a percentage of their pre-injury earnings as per their agreement.

After careful negotiations, both the Employee and the Employer reached a mutually agreeable settlement. This is a great example of the strength of collective action.
