2020

2020 is the year that everybody would love to forget, yet nobody will. From a training perspective the AWU managed as best it could to get as many people as possible through some face-to-face training later in the year.

Majority of training was done after March and regionally due to restrictions being slightly easier than in metropolitan Melbourne. Michael Simms conducted training courses in Mildura, Sale, Geelong and Portland throughout the Covid-19.

2021 Training

2021 is a calendar full of exciting and challenging training courses that we hope to see all HSR’s and Delegates enrol in. The AWU has gained approval for two extra HSR refresher courses in 2021, These are “Workplace related stress” and “Workplace Violence”.

Unfortunately as legislation still states only one refresher is allowed per year for HSR’s, this does give you a choice of the type of refresher material you believe will be relevant to your workplace and knowledge base.

"I am really excited to see what 2021 has in store for us as a society but one thing is for sure. We will continue to learn and develop HSR’s and Delegates, to improve safety and workers rights in the workplace." Michael Simms, AWU Victoria Training and Education Director
